Wisdom teeth seems to occur mostly in the adolescence age, probably
it starts to appear between the ages of 17 and 25. The word wisdom
tooth in English is originated from the Latin word dens
sapientiae. Usually there are four wisdom teeth, but it some cases
they can be more in number. Such a condition comes to be known as
hypodontia. While the wisdom teeth develop, it harms the other teeth
by becoming impacted. In such a situation, having wisdom teeth
removed can save the other teeth from getting decayed or damaged.
Extraction of wisdom teeth is done generally for two reasons; one
if it is already become impacted and second is that it could be
harmful to other teeth if not removed. If these teeth are not removed,
it causes problems such as orthodontics and infections inside the
mouth resulting into medical danger. That is the reason why the
dentists and surgeons recommend wisdom teeth removal to avoid future
problems.
However, many problems are there that one needs to face after the
extraction procedure is completed. Certain measures should be taken by
the patient in order to avoid such situations. After the teeth are
removed, the patient must not rinse the mouth the very first day.
Then after mouth should be rinsed every 3 to 4 hours using glass of
warm water and salt. If there is constant bleeding after the removal,
one should place gauze pads over the bleeding area, bite it tightly
for half hour, and continue doing it after specific time to stop
bleeding.
The patient faces swelling problems after the pulling. Ice wrapped
in towel should be applied to cheeks for 4 to 5 hours. The dentist
recommends a medicine for pain relief, which should be consumed by the
patient. Warm or hot foods or fluids should not be consumed during the
first 24 hours. During heeling, small bone fragments may grow up,
which the dentist if needed can remove. A mandatory precaution to be
taken is not to smoke, as this may result into dry socket.
As we all know that food plays a vital role in building the health
of any parts of the body. Therefore, there are best foods to be
consumed after wisdom teeth pulled out. These foods include ice-cream,
cold applesauce, mashed potatoes, cold tomato soup, cold pudding, non
frozen yogurt and cold health shake such as ensure or slim fast. To
have a delicious meal, the patient should cook congee rice with lot of
water and soft chopped meat. One can also add some soya sauce, sesame
oil, pepper powder or salt and concentrated milk to the mixture.
To get recovered after the extraction, one must follow all these
measures. In addition to that one must sleep only on a pillow, should
not do physical effort and relax, avoid solid foods and bite
gently. Of course the cost of extraction is also necessary to be
known. Approximately $175 is to be paid for simple extraction and the
cost would be twice higher in case of bone affecting. It is better
having wisdom teeth removed before the age of 25, as the recovery
period would be twice after that removal in this age.
Having wisdom teeth removed gives complete satisfaction only if the
recovery procedures are followed precisely. If everything is
successful completed or done well, one can recover within three days
of the surgery and get rid of the problem faced due to wisdom
teeth.
